Chapter 01

What Northwest Arkansas weather does to siding

Northwest Arkansas puts siding through a wide range of conditions in a single year. Spring storm season brings hail and straight-line winds on a regular basis, and the difference between a 15-year exterior and a 35-year one is usually how each material handles them. Fiber cement and composite cladding hold up better than budget vinyl when hail hits. On the wind side the difference is installation, not material: properly nailed siding rides out 60 to 80 mph gusts, while siding nailed too tight or too loose is the leading cause of storm-damage claims we see in the field.

Summer throws real UV at south-facing and west-facing walls, and darker vinyl colors fade faster than lighter shades. If your west wall looks chalky next to your north wall, that is UV degradation, not dirt. Then come the long humid stretches and driving spring rain that push moisture into the wall cavity through any gap they can find, and the single-digit cold snaps that make budget vinyl brittle enough to crack from a stray ladder bump.

The siding is only half of the answer. The weather barrier behind it matters just as much, which is why we never reuse old wrap on a replacement project.

Choosing the material: vinyl, fiber cement or composite

Three families cover almost every job we do. Vinyl runs 20 to 40 years depending on grade and installation, James Hardie fiber cement 30 to 50 years with normal maintenance, and Alside Ascend composite cladding 30 to 40 years under typical NWA conditions. The comparison below puts their real tradeoffs side by side, so you can pick with the whole picture in front of you.

Our own jobs show the range. In Garfield we installed primed Hardie board and batten with shake accents around a chimney chase, and in Fayetteville a charcoal LP SmartSide lap transformation with white trim and new white gutters. Both started with an exterior assessment, a color and material consultation, and a detailed written estimate.

Chapter 03

How the install runs, from tear-off to walkthrough

A typical single-family siding replacement runs about a week of on-site work. Larger homes, weather delays, and complex trim packages can stretch the schedule, and we always tell you ahead of time how the schedule looks. You do not need to be home while the crew works, only reachable for the start-of-job and final walkthroughs.

Old siding comes off first, sheathing is checked for rot, and new house wrap and flashing go on before a single new board does. The job ends with a magnetic nail sweep around the perimeter and a walk of every elevation with you.

If your neighborhood has an HOA, we handle the architectural review submission for you, so the paperwork is not standing between you and the start date.

What siding replacement costs in Northwest Arkansas

No per-square-foot number here, because it goes stale and steers you wrong.

Every siding estimate is different. What we can tell you is which factors actually move the price. The biggest is house size: square footage of wall, the number of stories, and the number of gables, dormers, and corners all add labor and material. A single-story ranch in Centerton with simple lines costs noticeably less to re-side than a two-story home with multiple gables in Rogers, even at the exact same material grade.

Material choice is the second big lever. Vinyl is typically the lowest-cost path; James Hardie fiber cement is the highest because the material itself costs more and installation takes longer. Composite cladding like Alside Ascend lands in between. Removal of existing siding adds cost too: homes that need rotted sheathing replaced, new house wrap, or extensive trim work will sit higher in the range than a clean tear-off on a sound substrate. Color choice, accent trim, and shake or board-and-batten gables also factor in.

If you are replacing siding because of storm damage, your homeowner’s insurance often covers the bulk of the project minus your deductible. We work directly with adjusters across NWA and can walk you through the claim process; see storm restoration for how that process runs. For non-storm projects, the right path is a written, itemized estimate after an on-site measurement so you can see exactly what is included and where the dollars go.

Want to spread the cost? Our financing page lists 10.99% APR for 180 months through GreenSky. Subject to credit approval. Terms and conditions apply. Minimum purchase may be required. Must mention this offer at time of scheduling. Offers are not applied automatically.

Siding installation timeline

About a week on site, in four moves.

A typical single-family siding replacement runs about a week of on-site work. Larger homes, weather delays, and complex trim packages can stretch the schedule, and we will always tell you ahead of time how the schedule looks.

  1. Tear-off and prep

Old siding comes off, sheathing gets inspected for rot or damage, and any soft spots are repaired. New house wrap goes on along with window and door flashing.

  2. Siding installation

Crews install the new siding from the bottom up, course by course. Length depends on house size, number of stories, and material. Fiber cement runs slower than vinyl, and weather can shift the schedule.

  3. Trim and caulk

Corner posts, J-channel, fascia trim, and accent details get installed. Every penetration, seam, and transition is caulked and sealed to keep weather out of the wall.

  4. Walk-through and cleanup

Job-site cleanup with a magnetic nail sweep around the perimeter, full debris removal, and a final walk-through with you to confirm every elevation looks right and address any punch-list items.

Working with NWA HOAs and neighborhoods

A lot of Northwest Arkansas neighborhoods, across Bentonville, Rogers, Bella Vista, Fayetteville, and beyond, have HOAs with specific rules around siding material, color palettes, and accent finishes. We’ve worked across most of the major NWA HOAs and handle the architectural review submission for you, including color samples, material specs, and any documentation the board requires before work can start.

If your neighborhood has guidelines, bring them to the consultation and we’ll build the estimate around what’s already approved.

NWA gets hot, humid summers, cold winters, and frequent hail and wind events. Fiber cement (James Hardie) handles impact and fire extremely well, insulated vinyl adds energy efficiency and stands up to moisture, and composite cladding such as Alside Ascend is a strong middle ground for homeowners who want a wood look without the upkeep. We help you weigh durability, maintenance, and cost during the on-site consultation.

Yes. James Hardie fiber cement is one of our core siding offerings for Bentonville, Rogers, Bella Vista, Fayetteville, Springdale and the rest of the NWA market. We install Hardie Plank lap siding, Hardie Shingle, and Hardie Panel, and we handle the prep, flashing, color matching, and finish trim required to get the manufacturer warranty in writing.

Quality vinyl siding installed correctly typically lasts 20 to 40 years in Northwest Arkansas. Premium insulated and composite vinyl products often carry lifetime limited warranties. Real-world lifespan depends on installation quality, maintenance, and exposure to UV and storm events. The cheap big-box panels rarely make it to the upper end of that range.

Yes. Bentonville and Rogers are core markets for our siding crews. We install James Hardie fiber cement, Alside Ascend composite, and full vinyl systems on homes throughout both cities, and we handle HOA color approvals, scaffolding for taller two-story elevations, and full trim packages on every project.

Most of the time, yes. We carry common vinyl, fiber cement, and engineered wood profiles in stock and can usually source discontinued products through manufacturer reps. For older or unusual siding we'll bring samples to compare side by side, and if a clean match isn't possible we'll talk through options like replacing a single elevation or adding accent contrast.

Total cost depends on home size, material, and removal complexity. Vinyl is the most affordable per square foot, fiber cement like James Hardie carries a higher upfront cost with a longer lifespan, and composite cladding sits in between. After an on-site measurement we provide a written, itemized estimate so you can see exactly what's included.

Yes. Fayetteville and Springdale are two of our highest-volume siding markets. Our crews are familiar with the older neighborhoods around the U of A and downtown Springdale where existing siding profiles need careful matching, and with the newer subdivisions where HOA approval and consistent street appearance matter most.

A few panels with hail dings, a cracked corner post, or one warped board can usually be repaired. Replacement makes more sense when you see widespread warping or buckling, soft spots that flex when pressed, paint peeling across multiple elevations, drafts or daylight visible from inside the wall cavity, or moisture stains and soft sheathing under the siding. If repairs are spread across more than one wall, the cost of patchwork often gets close to a full replacement, and you don't get the warranty reset that comes with new material.

It can help, but the gains are modest, not magic. Insulated vinyl adds an R-value of roughly R-2 to R-3 over the wall sheathing, and a fresh house wrap plus careful caulking around windows and penetrations cuts down on air leaks that were previously bleeding conditioned air. Most NWA homeowners notice rooms that used to feel drafty are more comfortable, and summer cooling runs a little less. If your insulation inside the wall cavity is already poor, siding alone won't fix that. It complements the rest of the envelope rather than replacing the need for attic insulation or new windows.

Hardie Plank is lap siding: long horizontal boards that overlap each other, which is the look most NWA homeowners picture when they think of fiber cement. Hardie Panel is a large flat sheet, typically 4 feet by 8 or 10 feet, used for vertical board-and-batten looks, modern farmhouse gable ends, or commercial-style flat walls. They use the same fiber cement material and carry the same warranty; the choice is mostly about the architectural look you want.

No. Most of the work happens on the exterior, so you can be at work, traveling, or going about your day while crews are on site. We do recommend you're available (even by phone) for the start-of-job walkthrough and the final walkthrough, so we can confirm color choices, accent details, and any punch-list items together. We'll keep gates closed for pets, protect landscaping, and let you know each day when crews are arriving and wrapping up.
